Radarmetrics is looking for a skilled hands-on Digital Electronics Systems Engineer to work in the design and development of aerospace radar instruments for its headquarters in Santander (Spain).

It treasures more than 20 years known-how in innovative spaceborne radar remote sensing, working with the main Space Agencies and private actors in Earth Observation around the world. Our core technical skills are in the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems and technologies. Our vision is to provide affordable and reliable imaging radars to advance the science of understanding our planet, monitor our resources, and make a safer world.

Position Description

The position entails a full-time permanent contract. The candidate will be responsible for the design and development of an affordable SAR back-end electronics, including firmware, software, and electronic interfaces. Additionally, the candidate will also be responsible of the verification and test of the instrument, including a real Near Space data acquisition campaign.

Responsibilities

As part of these activities, the candidate will need to understand instrument specifications, derive lower-level requirements, and define the most suitable instrument back end (IBE) architecture, including parts selection based on, e.g., SDR systems.  The candidate will also be responsible for the IBE assembly, integration and test within the overall instrument and platform system. Therefore, the candidate will need to coordinate with the instrument systems team, including other architects and considering mechanical, thermal, and other aspects constraint by the Near Space environment.

Required Experience

The candidate shall have hands-on experience in at least one of the following topics:

  • Understanding of instrument requirements, design, and implementation of digital architectures for embedded systems (FPGAs, Microprocessors, etc).
  • Design and development of Software-Defined Radio (SDR) based systems.
  • Real-time digital signal processing, acquisition, and conversion (ADC & DAC).
  • Definition and implementation of instrument digital interfaces, including communications, control, data transfer and storage.

Skills, qualifications, and legal requirements

  • A relevant Engineering University Degree, with a preference for candidates holding a PhD degree.
  • Fluent in English language (conversational, written, presentations).
  • Ongoing EU work allowance.
